Over 100 feared horses dead in OK

"It's like a war zone here -- [the horses] are just gone," said Vann. "It's just scorched earth -- like a bomb went off."

The farm's stalls and barns took a direct hit from the tornado, which was estimated to be on the ground for 40 minutes as it demolished everything in its path. It was estimated to be 3.2 kilometres wide. Three and a half of the facility's five barns were reported to be swept away.

Vann said debris had been found on the Orr property from the city of Moore all the way to Tulsa, Okla., which is approximately 90 miles from the farm. "Right now they are going through and looking at just what they lost," he said.

One of the workers there said in an interview it was like the movie Twister...he saw the horses sucked up by the tornado...

and most of them appear to be dead...

I found a picture on a Yahoo news site earlier that shows a large pile of dead horses, I just can't post it, too disturbing.

Here's a link for those who can handle it...

I'm still living with the images that haunt me from past devastating tornadoes, this picture has had me crying all day.

long delayed response. I recently got a full time job and haven't been able to participate here lately.

So the video demonstrates that many municipalities have been applying for FEMA grants to help them build storm shelters in public places but the usual suspects, ie. pseudo representative in the legislature and Congress, have systematically de-funded such efforts (including the additional slap in the face that is the sequester) because they don't like the self-assumed concept of someone with some kind of authority "telling them what to do" even if it would benefit the citizens in major tangible ways...

Austerity HO!!!

I wonder when the majority of actual human citizens will put down the XBoxes and Iphones and actually stand up to these shit-for-brains non-representatives.

... in the fires in Northwest L.A. that also came within a mile of my mom's assisted living home as well. I'm just so thankful that they weren't as badly affected as those in Oklahoma were yesterday. There really just isn't any place that's safe any more with climate change and sooner or later we're all going to get affected by it.

Does it mean that over 100 people fear that the horses are dead or that 100 terrifying horses are dead?

but they meant to write that "over 100 horses are feared dead" jic you honestly weren't able to figure that out.

The farm that took a direct hit had 80-100 horses there, and other smaller horse farms were in the path as well. They died horrifying deaths, sucked up, blown some distance and then slammed into the ground.

The title writer screwed it up. I had to reread it a couple time to try to understand what was being said.
