..we may need, as another poster suggested, a doggeon. Perhaps right next to the Olive Gardengeon.

4. Why? We have posts about guns each day
And both pit bulls and guns (not the owners, no one is ever responsible) are to blame for things (even though less than 1% of owners of both do stupid things - we learned from the right wing and their hate of Muslims to foment hate/emotions towards the many based on what the few do).
What else should we post on. Every car 'accident'? That would eat up most of GD each day. Same with gun accidents. Same with pool accidents. Etc. Almost 40k people died of drug overdoses this (edited - last year) year, 11 straight years this has increased. That is enough for a few posts a day and a reason for us to make the 99% who don't OD have to put up with more and more restrictions. No matter what the item there will be <1% or so who screw up and in a nation of 300 million that adds up. How about we stop overreacting and trying to fix the 99% of people in a group and focus more on the one thing in common to them all - education. |

Just bad pit bull posters... Or something. Plus, how do you know it's really a pit bull post and not a pit-bull type post? Can you *really* tell? My pit bull post never hurt anyone, and is the cuddliest postie evah.
Honestly? Maybe a Pittie version of the gungeon? These are gettin' a bit old. |

I know, I know. It could never happen, because you're a responsible dog owner etc.
But what if it did? Because I'm sure that the owners of most dogs that attack people are responsible dog owners, too. |

28. Several DU posters have advocated pre-emptive killing of dogs
Which is what baldguy is talking about. We even had a thread showing cases of the animals having their faces melted off with acid, and a poster asserted that doing this was "for the public good."
Seems to me that advocating the elimination of a living being whose only crime is being a favorite pet of assholes isn't very much in DU's spirit. |

40. Golly! You're as aggressive and hot-tempered as a pit bull!
If a dog attacks someone who hasn't instigated the attack (e.g., hasn't attacked the dog or the dog's owner and/or hasn't broken into the house) then I think that the dog should be put down. I also think that the owner should face enormous liability including fines, restitution and jail time, depending on circumstances.
Despite your rabid rejoinder, I haven't argued that anyone should kill your dog. Rather, I asked you what you would do if your dog attacked someone, and for some reason you still won't answer. Instead, you post false accusations about me and call me stupid. With that being the case, why should anyone believe anything that you have to say about your beloved pit bulls? |

45. there are places where they kill the dog even when the attack was clearly instigated
Provocation, even extreme provocation, hasn't stopped some people from killing dogs that simply tried to defend themselves.
And there are people on this board who have advocated killing all pitbulls period. And there are areas that are doing just that. I used to dream of moving to Canada. Now I won't even consider it for fear that my very gentle lab/chow/x shelter dog would be killed because somebody might decide he looks like a pit bull. Because that is the standard. If a person in "authority" decides your dog is a pit bull, it is a pit bull and is killed. And now that brainless, malicious and hateful mentality is migrating south. If bald guy is upset, maybe that is the reason for it. |

31. A pit bull dog is no more dangerous then the person who owns them.
They can be violent and aggressive dogs when trained that way but again, it is the fault of the owner.
Do the repetitious threads get aggravating? Yes. That's why I'm going to go to my trash thread and enter the word "pitbull" on it. Same place I have entered "guns/gun" A few sneak by but I am only assuming it's because I haven't figured out to use the nuances of the this board yet. |
