Citing a Tuesday poll from the Washington Post showing that President Obamas approval on the economy is at 48 percent, up from 44 percent in April, Silver writes: The economic mood may have been lifted by two highly visible indicators record-breaking stock prices and rebounding housing prices along with a series of improved jobs reports.

But a new Washington Post-ABC News poll also finds that allegations of impropriety related to the controversies have yet to affect President Obamas political standing. . . .
For the first time since the 100-day mark of Obamas first term, most say they are optimistic about the direction of the economy. More than half, 56 percent, say the economy is on the mend, the most to say so in polls since 2009. . . .
After two months of clearly negative ratings over his handling of the economy, Obama has climbed back to about even, with as many now approving as disapproving of his performance on this front. The president also holds a nine-percentage-point advantage over congressional Republicans on the issue.

(15,512 posts)Then again one evening of CNN would be enough to send any gullible viewer into Upsidedownland. And then there's the ratpack, with their tweeds and trophies, making sure that even the few seeking more substantial information never make it off the island.
But at least they're here, so there's a slim chance that maybe we can help them . . .

(15,512 posts)I don't want to jinx it either but after four years of very careful seeding I think the clouds are going to burst and nothing's going to stop them.
And the GOP is all about making money so I imagine they'll fall in line once spending starts going up and that will probably be happening soon. Let's hope!
