http://www.alternet.org/tea-party-and-right/heres-what-real-political-cover-looks-orchestrated-right-wingers-who-know-itThere have been nine public hearings and countless hours of commentary about the so-called Benghazi cover-up really some bureaucratic back-and-forth about talking points for a second-tier officials appearance on TV. But none of the outraged members of Congress or the news media seems to have any idea what a real cover-up looks like.
In 2011, I gained access to files at the George H.W. Bush library in College Station, Texas, showing how Bushs White House reacted to allegations in 1991 that he had joined in an operation in 1980 to sabotage President Jimmy Carters negotiations to free 52 American hostages then held in Iran.
What those files revealed was how to run a cover-up! Its framework was set on Nov. 6, 1991, by White House Counsel C. Boyden Gray, who explained to an inter-agency strategy session how to contain and frustrate a congressional investigation into the so-called October Surprise case. The explicit goal was to insure the scandal would not hurt President Bushs reelection hopes in 1992.
Grays strategy session followed by two days the White House receiving evidence from the State Department that a key fact in the October Surprise allegations had been verified. Ronald Reagans 1980 campaign director, William Casey, indeed had traveled on a mysterious trip to Madrid, just as one of the central witnesses had claimed.

(11,415 posts)I would like to know where the main street media is with this, this is truly a scandal. It goes to show you the republicans will go to every length to win, the sad and I do mean sad thing about this is that they send Americans to fight wars in the name of Democracy, and this is not really democracy it is a scam, a very, very despicable scam.

Freedomworks
Boyden co-chairs and serves on the board of FreedomWorks Foundation, that has close ties with the Tea Party Movement, which is led by Gray and former Majority Leader Dick Armey.
Gray served as the Co-Chairman for Citizens for a Sound Economy which would later become Freedomworks and Americans for Prosperity. Citizens for a Sound Economy (CSE) was a powerful industry-funded think tank, promoting deregulation. It was founded by Koch Industries interests and continues to maintain strong links. In 2003, an internal rift between CSE and its affiliated Citizens for a Sound Economy Foundation led to a split in which CSEF was renamed as a separate organization, called Americans For Prosperity. In July 2004, CSE announced it was merging with Empower America to create FreedomWorks.
Gray formed the Committee for Justice in 2004 to push George W. Bush's judicial nominees.

This guy has had a finger in every pie in Washington for a long time. Most people have never heard of him or his family's American/ eugenics movement/sterilization program connection.

Following Bush's one-term presidency, the Post continued to serve the Bush agenda. It was unstinting in its criticism of the Clinton administration, and lurid and exhaustive in its coverage of the various scandals that dogged Bill and Hillary Clinton, invariably conveying the sense that the nation's capital had been invaded by so much Arkansas trailer trash. The Post's Whitewater reporter, Susan Schmidt, was such a reliable conduit of leaks and information from Independent Counsel Ken Starr (Bush's Solicitor General), that she became known to some media critics as "Steno Sue." The paper's voracious approach to Whitewater is all the more revealing in light of the fact that the Whitewater investigation was initiated in the last days of the 1992 campaign by Bush's White House Counsel C. Boyden Gray, and thatas reformed conservative David Brock documents in his book, "Blinded by the Right"the "vast right wing conspiracy" that sought to depose Clinton essentially constituted a "Bush government in exile."
