I leave it you guys. Hide this post and it will be my last.

There's a difference between pointing out that Coburn is a slimy hypocrite and calling Okies Neanderthals.

(11,785 posts)You'd be enraged if they dissed everyone in your state because Republican voters live there. Why is it okay to crap on them because they happen to live somewhere with more Republicans than Democrats?

(51,076 posts)back in the reagan days when the economy went south for a lot of those in the rust belt we had a large influx of people from there, the rust belt states, move to our state and if you'd do a search on that I believe you will find that our quality of politicians went down hill with that. Whether that is the reason or not I'm not sure but its something to think about.
Maybe I'm misremembering but I don't think I am
I'd do a search to find the relevant information but at the moment I'm fixing to hit the yard and clean up after the last wave of storms to come through here. Do some tree trimming, lawn mowing, garden work. My time today will be met with a sweaty body and with a little grumbling possibly mixed in. Probably not much grumbling as I'm pretty happy to be alive.
Just throwing this little tidbit out there

I do think there possibly is a correlation between the two but I'm not saying that as fact, didn't mean to imply that either.
My apologies for making it sound that way
I"ll go back and read what I typed to see where I went wrong. sorry mybad

(30,481 posts)What's interesting was that there was a very strong contingent of African Americans all living in one section. They voted overwhelming for the dem candidate every time. So what was the problem. The problem, was that through gerrymandering, their community was cut in half. Their votes were watered down. It was guaranteed that they would not have the representation in congress that they desired. These good dems are represented by a far right winger, due to nothing that they themselves did. Politically, they are completely shit upon. They have very limited resources to fight battles and are truly abused by the system.
What will you say when a hurricane comes through their community, destroying it. In your little world, you would shit on them. Tell them they can fuck off due to their representative. Your lack of compassion is showing and the people you will truly hurt most are the ones who will fight for the same causes as you. Your posts make your intentions with respect to the op clear. Puff your chest out, as you type on your keyboard, and let all the OK dems know that you are doing just fine.

(30,481 posts)I like to read what is out there. I stand behind every word in my post. Seems you don't want to answer to yours. It is all good by me.
You just sent me an email calling me a "sanctimonious asshole" and telling me to put you on ignore.
I have no fear of seeing your opinions and responding to them. Also, I have no need for you to send me emails telling me what to do. Very bullyish. That attitude really falls in line with your op and other responses.

(30,481 posts)I thought this was more about representatives and how they vote. I think my post was pretty clear. It clearly spelled out how the mentality of the op can be seriously destructive to very good people. Guess you missed that. The most vile are in the house.

(30,481 posts)You point is taken. I fully back my response to the op, which you have not addressed here. The mentality is the same, whether talking about senators or congresspersons. I understand that there are some like the op, and possibly you, who feel that whole communities should suffer because the majority of voters make bad decisions.

(30,481 posts)would be akin to not seeing reality. The fact is, disenfranchised voters, do not go to the polls as they should. Even in statewide elections. Gerrymandering can play a great role in statewide elections. There are many purposes to disenfranchising voters.

(39,191 posts)Sandys death toll in the U.S. has risen to 135, according to tallies from individual counties and states, with 60 deaths in New York now credited to the superstorm.
As medical examiners reports have come in from individual counties, weve seen the number rise, said Rich Azzopardi, a spokesman for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo who provided updated numbers on Monday.
County medical examiners say many of the deaths were storm-related, such as from trimming trees or from carbon-monoxide fumes from generator use, but not directly caused by the storm. Those deaths count in New Yorks overall total, although that isnt the case in all jurisdictions.
Lets say someone was trimming trees after the storm, said Grace Kelly-McGovern, a spokeswoman for the Suffolk County Medical Examiners Office. Thats related to the storm.

(38,437 posts)Not the post to which I'm responding .... but you are a target. There are those who push despised DUers really hard trying to get them to pop or to discredit them. The real idiots are totally transparent, though they think they are stealthy and clever. The good ones have become adept at acting like DUers, but they have an unmistakable tell.
I think you're doing fine -- you know when to pull back. Just be aware.

Known it for years. When David thinks it's time to go he'll let me know. I'm too old and ill to worry about 'them' anymore. I am what I am and that's all that I am and if they stood up for what they write like I do we'd all be better off. My journal goes back years, how many of them are proud of their comments here?
And on top of it all, I know who my friends are, Interesting it's a couple of recent members, strange they congregate in this thread, oh well, not worth being bothered. Life is too short.
FYI this thread.
13 days in November during Sandy, no electricity water or heat. 35 degrees during the night. Red Cross showed up on the 13th day. Lukewarm hotdogs and beans, blankets 60 X 24 ". Where I work no power for 8 days after the storm. No paycheck, all stored cold and frozen food discarded. If it wasn't for my daughter, I'd not have had a shower. Those who carry a torch of insult need to carry it to someone else.
Be well

Have a nice life, and I won't even bother sending a goodbye PM. Your whole purpose in this thread (along with others) was to claim a scalp and lock it down because of one word you decided was the focal point of the thread. The focal point is OK has two flaming asshole senators, period. And you've kept it at the top day and night now, so thanks for that.
Enjoy your evening.
