I'm sure everyone knows that eBay doesn't allow gun sales on it's site, although they do allow gun accessories to be sold; magazines, sights, holsters, etc.
But did you know they also protect us from the interstate sale of vintage toy guns? They don't allow any type of toy gun to be sold on their website with the addition of an orange muzzle indicator. It makes me feel much safer knowing this.

(1,689 posts)You are showing me pics of new toy guns that are manufactured with the orange muzzle band. I'm talking about toy guns made in the 50s and 60s that weren't made with them. But eBay requires they be added on to them by the seller.
(and the pic that shows toy guns without the orange band are tiny little GI Joe sized guns)

(37,449 posts)it does get notice and yes its an airsoft product. I'm a bit amazed many people don't know about the orange tips. I often get comments about it.

(51,076 posts)I've bought 4 items on ebay in the last week. None of them had anything to do with guns though. I might even step up my use of eBay since knowing this is their policy.

(1,689 posts)...the reason I posted this is because I was going to sell a toy gun of mine I've had since the 60s. In researching the value of the gun I was noticing similar guns from the same era all having orange tips on them. I knew that toy guns didn't come with that at that time. (I'm thinking that started in the early 80s but not sure) So I sent a message to a seller that had one like mine for sale and he said it was eBay's rule to have any toy gun regardless of manufacture date have an orange tip listed for sale on eBay. Apparently he (and I) were wrong, it's a federal law. It just seemed silly to me.
Side note, when I was a kid I played 'army' with very realistic toy guns all the time. My kids grew up in the late 80s to 90s and I never bought them toy guns, partly because I didn't want someone mistaking their game play for a real gun.
