The Republican party often gets accused of being prejudice or even racist. While the claims are not always accurate, at times the nail is hit right on the head.
According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley appointed a white supremacist to her re-election committee. Earlier this year, Haley released a list of co-chairs who sat on her re-election committee and one name caught the eye of the SPLC. One of the names listed was Roan Garcia-Quintana of Greenville. The civil rights group "The Anti-Defamation League," notes that Garcia-Quintana is a "white supremacist" who opposed the desegregation of public schools during the civil rights era of the 1950s.
"Roan Garcia-Quintana, a director of the white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens (CofCC), is closely tied to anti-immigrant organizations in the United States. Garcia-Quintana is a well-known leader in the CofCC, a group descended from the White Citizens Councils, which opposed desegregation of schools during the Civil Rights era."
As a member of the Council of Conservative Citizens, Garcia-Quintana echoes the organizations beliefs against the LGBT community, immigration and other minorities.
Gov. Haley has yet to offer a comment on the situation as of present time.
