Police stand in for fallen officer at his daughter's kindergarten graduationTatum Raetz graduated from kindergarten this week, just three days after her police officer father was killed while investigating a drunk driving case.
But the 5-year-old girl definitely felt her fathers presence at her ceremony, thanks to nearly 300 uniformed officers standing in his place at her Phoenix elementary school.
SNIP:
When they stepped out of the car, they saw a sea of blue out there. The officers were clapping, calling out her name, congratulating her, said Phoenix police department spokesman James Holmes, who attended the ceremony. The look on her face was absolutely priceless.
We probably soaked the sidewalk, Holmes said. It was impossible not to be emotional in that moment.
SNIP:
"Ive never ever been prouder of being a police officer than yesterday morning. It was absolutely amazing," Holmes said. "Ive been a cop for 37 years. Ive never seen anything like it."

Tatums father, Daryl Raetz, was fatally hit early Sunday morning while investigating a DUI case. The 29-year-old Iraq war veteran had been with the Phoenix police department since June 2007.
But, it's so beautifully Poignant how Daryl Raetz' fellow Police Officers came together for him at his daughter's graduation.. from Kindergarten!

I wish everybody (but especially cops) could experience the power of love at this level, without the needless tragedy. Makes everybody a little better inside

We honored them here in Boston. Yes there was tragedy involved, however~
At 10:30 p.m. in Watertown Square, a crowd of some 40 people waved American flags as they chanted USA! USA! USA! The celebrants exchanged mutual salutes with drivers who blew their horns as they rode past and spontaneously sang, God Bless America.
The crowd grew especially rowdy when a long line of State Police cruisers rolled past. Way to go, boys! one man yelled at a caravan of police.
Throughout the city, impromptu celebrations sprang up, beginning with the group of some 100 people who listened to accounts on a radio as police closed in, and finally captured him on Franklin Street. Police found Tsarnaev covered with his own blood in a boat underneath a tarp.
