In Memo To Employees, Ailes Blasts Obama Admin’s ‘Attempt To Intimidate Fox News’

In Memo To Employees, Ailes Blasts Obama Admin’s ‘Attempt To Intimidate Fox News’

In a memo circulated to employees and posted Thursday on the network's website, Fox News chairman Roger Ailes excoriated the Obama administration's aggressive pursuit of leaks, saying it's created "a climate of press intimidation, unseen since the McCarthy era."

But the memo was largely a call to action. Issuing a sharp rebuke of the government's surveillance of Fox reporter James Rosen, Ailes said that the Obama administration's "attempt to intimidate Fox News and its employees will not succeed and their excuses will stand neither the test of law, the test of decency, nor the test of time."

The memo, via FoxNews.com:

Dear colleagues,

The recent news about the FBI’s seizure of the phone and email records of Fox News employees, including James Rosen, calls into question whether the federal government is meeting its constitutional obligation to preserve and protect a free press in the United States. We reject the government's efforts to criminalize the pursuit of investigative journalism and falsely characterize a Fox News reporter to a Federal judge as a "co-conspirator" in a crime. I know how concerned you are because so many of you have asked me: why should the government make me afraid to use a work phone or email account to gather news or even call a friend or family member? Well, they shouldn’t have done it. The administration’s attempt to intimidate Fox News and its employees will not succeed and their excuses will stand neither the test of law, the test of decency, nor the test of time. We will not allow a climate of press intimidation, unseen since the McCarthy era, to frighten any of us away from the truth.

I am proud of your tireless effort to report the news over the last 17 years. I stand with you, I support you and I thank you for your reporting with courageous optimism. Too many Americans fought and died to protect our unique American right of press freedom. We can’t and we won’t forget that. To be an American journalist is not only a great responsibility, but also a great honor. To be a Fox journalist is a high honor, not a high crime. Even this memo of support will cause some to demonize us and try to find irrelevant things to cause us to waver. We will not waver.

As Fox News employees, we sometimes are forced to stand alone, but even then when we know we are reporting what is true and what is right, we stand proud and fearless. Thank you for your hard work and all your efforts.

Sincerely,

Roger Ailes

It's going to be interesting to watch the hypocrites rising to the defense of this hack organization.

Anyone who props them up deserves to be burned by their stupid. They are hypocrites.

DOJ Document Reveals Fox News Reporter James Rosen Wanted To Impact U.S. Foreign Policy

<...>

Let’s break some new, and expose muddle-headed policy when we see it – or force the administration’s hand to go in the right direction, if possible.

Wait, what? Is that what a News reporter is supposed to do, force the administration’s hand to guide American foreign policy to the reporter’s whim? Separate and apart from the DOJ investigation, this email seems to indicate that James Rosen is not just a News reporter, but an activist intent on pushing his own agenda, with the stated goal of manipulating U.S. foreign policy

Those Rosen emails are pretty disturbing. Holder did what he had to do, and now is paying the price from a bunch of yahoos equating FOX to everyone else. This is one fucked-up-in-the-head country.

are doing everything to save Fox. Their defense is disingenuous BS. They want Fox around.

Look at the defense: We don't approve of Fox, but... Fox is horrible, but...James Rosen is an asshole, but...

That is basically the gist of every defense in the face of their blatant hypocrisy.

Obama administration when they would look really stupid doing so otherwise. They try to appear balanced but it reality they know they despise this President for his popularity, sincerity, intelligence and decency.

"The rest of the media seems to be supporting FOX as their own way of propagan against the Obama administration when they would look really stupid doing so otherwise."

...bullshit headline about Holder approving the warrant.

What the hell is that supposed to mean? When the AP story broke, people were citing DOJ regulations that Holder had to sign off on warrants because some thought that there would be a conflict of interest in that specific case. He recused himself.

In this case, he's doing his job, and there is no need for recusal. Yet the MSM uses this BS headline to create the impression he did something wrong.

Complicit assholes.

This has been proven over and over. They do not report the news, they report stories written to fulfill their conservative agenda.

The rest of the media should call them out on it, but they're too busy covering "news" like Which older stars have killer bodies and Celebrity tattoos that were mistakes.

Note to MSM: The reason you're losing viewers is because of this crap. Serious people who want the news go to the Internet now, where we can choose to read all sides of a story, with no political slant and then decide for ourselves. The Internet is now doing what you USED to do.

FUCK YOU FOXNEWS. May you fall apart and become a nothing. I have ZERO sympathy for a company that FULLY SUPPORTED these types of tactics when it was GEORGE FUCKING BUSH! Matter of fact, the DOJ followed the LAW in this case...unlike the 8 years of unlawfulness by the BFEE...that FOX supported 100%!

FUCK YOU FOXNEWS...just had to type that again, feels so good.
