General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIs there anyone on DU that's paid by the Republic Party, Teahadists, Koch inc. or other wingers?
..to post negative, discouraging, baiting, anti-community, anti-environment, anti-women, anti-common-sense, anti-safety comments on DU?
Because I've assumed there are, for several years.
But by all means, please expose yourselves now!
(Not that way, put your undies back on.)

(10,745 posts)Mainly, with climate doomers calling me a "denialist" or a minimizer just for questioning their bullshit, and/or their unquestioning acceptance of pretty much anything that's "doomy" no matter if it has merit or not, and the occasional Obama basher accusing me of being a shill for the administratio.
Though I'll admit that occasionally, I DO like to toy around a bit with my opponents(not to the point where it crosses into actual trolling, though, of course.).....I'm sure many of us have felt that way, at least on occasion.

(10,745 posts)Seriously, though, I guess this means you evidently don't have a clue as to what I was talking I would have left this alone, but I'll clear things up for you:
You may remember this particularly nutty piece from last summer. It was all over the place:
arctic-news.blogspot.com/p/global-extinction-within-one-human.html
And here's another nut, particularly well liked by doomers:
http://www.guymcpherson.com
And here's David Wasdell's B.S. "Earth Systems" theory(note the 7.8*C sensitivity per doubling of Co2 figure):

You'll need Adobe Acrobat for this, btw.

(17,645 posts)Homework.
In your journal you posted that fear paralyzes people and prevents action.
I have an idea that I think could really help mobilize people, enough people to move climate legislation.
Who do you think is most active in your area, and in the country, in climate education? Most effective?

(20,317 posts)industry shills of different types. Marketing through forums and social media is a developed field now, and it's everywhere. A site as busy as DU is certainly going to attract it's share of salesmen.
The Straight Story
(48,121 posts)Because I don't always agree that having the government remove more rights and making criminals of more of us for what a few do is a good idea (and being pro-choice on choices other than abortion gets you labeled a libertarian/shrill).
Being for more government in some areas and less in others does not go over well perhaps.

(20,226 posts)1. They criticize the President and the Party leadership - Especially if the criticisms sounds legitimate, since this will demoralize the base and ultimately reduce voter turnout.
2. They defend the President and the Party leadership. Thus showing that they are serving the interest of the corporate elitist by shielding our elected leaders from the pressure necessary to actually enact progressive change and to keep the Democratic Party viable in the long run.
3. The most devious of all are those who perform a sly combination of criticizing and defending the President and the Party leadership. Clearly this is the most sinister of all characters. They are attempting to both demoralize the base while shielding the elected leaders from the pressure necessary to enact progressive change.
If you find ANYONE performing either of these two roles or a combination of both - you know - you know for absolute certainty that you are dealing with a professional Republican troll.

Seemingly any poster who criticizes Obama or the Obama admin, or voices an opinion that is (on the surface) in the minority on DU on the topic of the day, is called paid shill or much worse.
