Russia says it will send missiles to Syria. Israel says it will strike them if they do

Israeli defense chief indicates if Russia ships advanced missiles to Syria, they could be hit

srael’s defense minister on Tuesday signaled that his military is prepared to strike shipments of advanced Russian weapons to Syria, in a rare implied threat to Moscow.

Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon issued his warning shortly after a top Russian official said his government reserves the right to provide Syria with state-of-the-art S-300 air defense missiles.

yeah, they would.
What Israel would probably do is wait until they're offloaded and enroute to their deployment base before striking them.

they would most likely wait until the missiles are on the way to their deployment site before striking them, that way, the chance of killing Russian personnel is greatly reduced.

My personal take on it would be that they'll use their own ship as an "in your face" message to Israel that they'll stand by their ally, Syria.
Of course, I could be 100% wrong, it's happened a time or two.

they are intended for "our" side or "theirs".

They are likely to end up in the wrong hands in either case and be used against civilian (American, Russian or any other country) airplanes.

Syria could deploy the missiles on the dock next to the Russian ship. Would Israel bomb there?

And move them from there only at night with a lot of decoys. Israel can be fooled.

too much risk of Russian casualties, which would really piss off the Kremlin and invite retaliation.

The Syrians could move them at night using decoys, but Israel has a pretty good intelligence agency and probably wouldn't be fooled.

Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail and no military action will happen.

Probably zero chance that there wouldn't be any retaliation.

Israel's alot of things, but they're not stupid enough to think that Russia won't hit back if Russian nationals or property is attacked.

With a small element of truth. Bush, Reagan, et al, when in power, did drive us right to the edge and cause much war. But the nation these days is not them. Obama is working to bring it all back to benevolence. That's how he got elected.

I would consider your drivel to be that which is meant to be a cover for Israel and its warmongering.

You are one to talk. You see the two leaders who stole their elections to office as the US. Such willful blindness makes you seem way out of touch.

Obama has had these issues dropped in his lap. He did not create the wars, but he is drawing us out. And that against the warmonger's threats. Like those that Israel uses to get its billions in welfare.

I will admit to not being a follower of your stuff in I/P, or anywhere. So if you really are an opponent of Israeli aggression this is a good time and place to make that clear.

what does this even mean? "you see the two leaders who stole their elections to office as the US. Such willful blindness makes you seem way out of touch."

Can you attempt to put that into intelligible language?

And although Obama is an improvement on buschco, he has not ended the war in Afghanistan- which has been a disaster. Indeed, he ramped it up.

And go fucking do a search for my I/P posts. I'm not gonna cater to your lazy posterior and do it for you. They're easy to find and the last thing anyone in that forum would call me, pumpkin, is an apologist for Israel. Oh, and I don't have to make shit clear for you, got it?

The Native Americans have a saying for folks that talk like you: Speak with forked tongue.

As to the stolen elections... I guess you just can't accept that both Reagan and Bush stole their elections, and that is why your head twisted around like that so you can't grok the idea?

these missile have the range to threaten air spaces beyond Syria. Civilian and military planes are vulnerable (especially if they fall into the wrong hands). A good chunk o northern Israel is pretty much threatend if these missiles are deployed, set up, and trained personnel are stationed near them.
