We see this with Fox News and other RW media where the prejudice comes first and the facts come last, if at all.

The thing is, they know they're not getting the true facts, but they think liberals do the same (i.e. that the rest of the media is a liberal version of Fox News).

I joined DU more than ten years ago, not because I was a liberal or conservative, but because I wanted as many facts and as much information as possible to form an opinion. The fact that it's a liberal website was irrelevant at the time. If FR had real facts and information I would've been a freeper. But it didn't so I didn't give FR a second look.

That's it. There is FR and DU. Your either on one side or the other.

When I joined this site it was to have discussions on current issues with people who were like minded. That is futile here, there is no discussion, on any issue.

Still a fun place to read every now and again but the fact is this place is not for democrats, or liberals/progressives, this is a place for hard leftists to tell other people how they are not democrats. Dare to disagree or question any talking point and you are immediately chastised.

To think that "being RW is the ability to be led around by your prejudices" while at the same time saying, "RW media where the prejudice comes first and the facts come last, if at all" is funny.

I'm probably what others call a "centrist" or a "pragmatist" on most issues. It would be boring if everyone agreed with me. That's the point: DUers challenge each other, it's not an echo chamber (or it doesn't have to be).

I'm "hard left," but I don't tell other people how to label themselves. Discussion boards without disagreement can get pretty boring, unless they are nerd based, such as video games.

I see a lot of discussion, but you have to look past the muck.

By the time they reach voting age, they have had the opportunity to search for the truth. Their choice not to seek the truth is theirs and theirs alone. They bear 100% of the responsibility...no excuses...no lies. And I cut them no slack, whatsover!

10, 15, 20 years ago . . . I know why my dad's father was a Republican - that's it. Made sense for his time, age, era, space, place.

But today - I think it is an ACTIVE choice to allow fear to rule one's belief system.

It's fear based thinking and it leads to fear based decisions, actions, and follow through.

Choosing to hate is a choice.

Hypocrisy, double standards, pick and choose religious beliefs, bigotry...they are all choices that one chooses to accept when they support the Republican Party.
