Since the bank wants $30, I think I'lls ee if I can find something cheaper...thanks...just wondering how reliable those sites/companies are.

(14,040 posts)they offer coupon you can search for "checks in the mail coupon" so you can get a decent discount on your first order.

(30,947 posts)I need to order a new batch, and since I use my debit card for everything and online banking for bill paying, 4 boxes of checks last me forever.

(3,724 posts)No problems whatsoever. The price on these has creeped up over the years, however. I don't write that many checks so I don't care (I pay most of my bills online). Still better than the bank.

(28,394 posts)A couple of boxes of checks lasted longer than our bank was in business! I have like an entire box of checks from a now defunct bank.

(12,448 posts)I've also had four banks sold to other banks, rendering my checks useless.

(14,255 posts)But it took me five years to go through four boxes, and I expect the last batch I ordered to be a part of my estate, even if I live for 20 more years.
I was very sad that I couldn't find Curious George checks last time I ordered. I dislike sentimental and cutesy things of all kinds, but Curious George does not get enough attention or respect these days.

(23,720 posts)these days I write very few checks. I pay my bills straight from my checking account and use my bank card for most other transactions. Last time I wrote a check it was because I left my bank card in the car and didn't want to run out and get it.

(56,177 posts)And the banks recently have been over-charging for them...probably because people hardly use them anymore..it's all electronic.

(42,239 posts)both for private and business accounts and I don't recall any mention of an intention to make them chargeable here

(16,330 posts)much cheaper and easier than dealing with the bank. I like duplicate checks for personal use and printer checks for work. I've never had any issues ordering and having them arrive safely.

(1,990 posts)But I've never needed more, since I pay almost everything through my bank's free bill payment service. My bank is an internet-only bank (First Internet Bank, at www.firstib.com).

(64,931 posts)rent, everything else is paid on-line. For a while I would just have my credit union just cut a check to my landlord, with no charge.
ETA: Those kittens are really cute. Our little Idget is not so little any more. She just got "fixed" and also weighs 5.5lbs!

The phone center lady insisted on my full social security number. Three times!
I asked to speak to her manager, then she said I could use the last 4 digits "IF I WANTED TOO".
