Emails and telephone records in Mayor Rob Fords office are in danger of disappearing, the Star has learned.
The electronic records, which may reveal knowledge of discussions of the video scandal, were ordered destroyed this week. Sources say people who were told to delete the records are balking at the order.
One source the Star spoke to was alarmed at the potential loss of evidence of attempts to locate and retrieve a video of Ford smoking crack cocaine and making homophobic and racial slurs.
The records in question were held on the City Hall server and belonged to departed staff members Mark Towhey, George Christopolous and Isaac Ransom. Towhey was fired for telling the Mayor to seek addiction help; the other two resigned Monday after their communications advice was ignored.

(44,228 posts)Generally, Torontonians are left-leaning, especially in the city core. They are more conservatives in the outlying areas.
We tend to alternate liberal / conservative / liberal / conservative, but this was case of the pendulum swinging way too far to the right.
June Rowlands was an awesome mayor in the mid 90's, but then we had asshat Mel Lastman. When the city grew tired of his schtick, we had very liberal David Miller for a number of years. Then it was time to go conservative again - hence dumbass.
Ford has almost singlehandedly - well actually he's done it in concert with his idiot brother, who's on city council - destroyed the credibility of the conservative bloc in local Toronto politics. I'd be surprised if our next mayor isn't another very liberal politician. George Smitherman comes to mind.

(4,219 posts)First, I dig your name.
The 905'ers being the suburbs versus the 416'ers being the city folk. These are the area codes that make up the Toronto area I am told.
This contrast makes perfect sense to me after having spent some time up there, sorta like certain parts of NYC being conservative (Staten Island, bits of Queens and bits of Brooklyn) and then Manhattan being completely solidly progressive.
Is he really less than halfway thru his term??? Looks like a real asshole, good luck.
