at shrimp farms in places like Vietnam, I stopped buying shrimp.
If anyone can tell me where to buy shrimp I don't have to worry about, I would really appreciate it.

It's supposed to be marked as to whether it's fresh or farm-raised. I don't eat farm-raised fish or seafood. If I can't get it fresh, I don't get it at all.

There is one company that uses sustainable farming for the fish, but in the moment, I can't remember the company name. THey sell to Costco.

After all of the oil in the gulf I cannot for the life of me eat Gulf Shrimp. And well we have pretty bad shrimp here on east coast of Florida - not any real taste. The stuff that you buy in say Publix is never posted if it's from the Gulf or Atlantic. But boy if it says farm raised I am staying really far away from it. All fed with Wheat Gluten from China (just like the crap they put in the dog food that isn't worth it to give your pets either).

And then there is the shrimp that is from China - stay away from that!! Oh my!

The reason for the admonition not to eat shellfish (and fish without scales, i.e., catfish) is that they're scavengers. You're probably healthier by not eating them. Consider further that shrimp often come from locations without adequate sewage treatment; hepatitis is just one of the diseases that can result from eating shellfish where untreated sewage enters the ocean.

Salmon too, the difference between wild caught and farm raised is big. You pay more for the wild caught but it's much better.

for me, i never buy farm-raised fish. i look for "wild-caught" which insures that they are not genetically modified (at least for now). same with crustaceans.
