anticipate that the super-rich would financially support and be able to buy virtually all of the politicians so that there would not be just ONE party attempting to abolish Social Security, etc.

In 1954, there was "a tiny splinter group." After 1963, that "tiny splinter group" (including Texas millionaires) has grown and now own the place.
