I kinda never got out of the 60's and yes I still have tie-dye T-shirts and still wear long skirts and yes, I'm a macrame artist. Goddess, I'm SUCH a cliche'.

Some of us do - and how. I often look like I'm wearing white velvet tights.

When I get asked questions about "white people" hair, skin, whatever, it's never in a rude way though; these encounters are always sort of fun lotion-and-conditioner-tip swap fests.

I have very high cheekbones. My mother has some Sicilian and Spanish blood, so I'm dark for a "white" person.

One time, an anthropologist refused to believe I wasn't indigenous...sigh.

and start speaking to him in Spanish. He is half German Jewish and half Korean, which has given him a tawny-skinned, dark-haired look that I called "generically ethnic": he said he's been mistaken for a local in Turkey, Greece and Mexico. But the Spanish thing really bugs him. He does not speak Spanish, and it happens a LOT. He's started answering them in his broken Korean. He tells me their facial expressions are priceless.

My SIL always gets the 'of course you can dance, you're BLACK!' when she says she doesn't want to dance because she's not good at it.

A friend of mine in school once had to sit through a prof go on and on to her about how much he loved the Philippines and how her people, Filipinos, were the best workers. My friend is a Muslim from Saudi Arabia.
