Government Officials In India Resign After Getting Caught Watching Porn

We all do it, right? I’ve been known to enjoy a little adult entertainment now and again in the privacy of my own home.

Three government ministers are in hot water after they were caught watching pornography on a cellular telephone during a state assembly. I think it is safe to list ‘The Indian Parliament’ in the top-5 places where it is not cool to enjoy a porno.

The three ministers come from the morally conservative Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party. One of the ministers, C.C. Patil is the minister for women and child development (yikes!). The three men have resigned after being caught by television cameras passing the phone around.

For those of you keeping score at home, India is a largely male dominated society with a sketchy record when it comes to women’s rights. Women often suffer from domestic abuse, arranged marriage, and rape as well as dowry-related murder and honor killings. India is also widely criticized for the huge amount of female infant homicide which takes place in the country.
