Chuck Woolery from "Love Connection" says Gays and African Americans Don't need Civil Rights

If we followed the logic of Chuck and Bachmann, believing the "majority rules" can strip civil rights away from other Americans, then they must have forgotton about the result of the Civil War, and they don't understand the Constitution which prevents states from passing laws that deny classes of people their rights. If they had their way, many of the southern states would still have segregated lunch counters.

Nice to know that Mr. Love Connection is weighing in on this important issue.

"Bachmann, while doing radio interviews on "radio row" at CPAC, met up with Chuck Woolery, the former TV game show host, most notably of the "Love Connection," and they shared a warm embrace as Bachmann giddily called out, "Chuck! Chuck!"

"Woolery is promoting "Reset Congress," a project that he outlines on his web site, Save Us Chuck Woolery. He, too, slammed the Prop 8 ruling, and said gays don’t need civil rights. In fact, he believes African-Americans need no civil rights.

"Majority rules," he said, dismissing the idea that minorities need protections. "We were born with natural rights. We don't need civil rights. [African-Americans] don't need civil rights. They don't need them. They have inalienable rights granted by God in the Constitution. I mean, I'm discriminated against all the time. I don't care. It doesn't bother me. [I'm discriminated against] because I'm old. I'm too old to get a job as a game show host. They say, well, the guy's 71 and in five years he'll be 76. And I’m a one per center, and I'm absolutely discriminated against as a one per center."

...or put him in contact with people who needed civil law to enforce their natural rights in the face of a "majority rule" that did not feel bound to respect the natural rights of certain other categories of people.

Esp. wealthy ones. They just can't empathize with the discrimination faced by some groups over decades and centuries. Further, that his being okay with age discrimination makes it okay for others, who NEED to work. Or that age discrimination being wrong and his being okay with that, makes other types of discrimination okay.

And their failure to recognize that being in his class, which gives him a preferred status in our society, that the age discrimination he faces would, by default, not be as egregious as that faced by others, who face discrimination in other respects, as well.

Imagine a person is black....elderly....overweight. Three marks against you. The age discrimination is going to come at you from more places than if you were white.....barely over 50....normal weight.....one of the "beautiful people." The age discrimination that would be faced by the latter would not come at you from as many places. Because the only mark against you is the age, and you're not that old.

Nice to see that the Dominionists and Authoritarians are all for it.

Until this idea started catching on last year, the last time I heard "Majority Rules" was in 5th grade. 11 year-olds.
Well, this bunch would have to grow up some to act like 11 year-olds.

He used to walk around Music Row wearing a fur coat with two dogs that looked like Afghans at the end of a leash. He actually recorded a song I wrote. He obviously has the intelligence of a typical TV talking head.
