Newt's narcissism is Romney's hope
Newt Gingrich has an opportunity to seriously hurt Mitt Romney by simply dropping out. Today.
Doing so could possibly cost Romney the nomination. There is nothing else Newt Gingrich can possibly do that could cost Romney the nomination. Newt has more power today to make his ostensible goals manifest than he has had before or will again.
But he will not because he is Newt Gingrich.
This was never about a conservative alternative. This was never about Mitt being some sort of moderate. And Gingrich did not learn to hate Mitt because of anything Mitt did to Newt Gingrich.
Mitt is in Newt's way hence Mitt is infinitely evil. It is irrelevant that Mitt ran a bunch of anti-Gingrich ads. Mitt's policies are irrelevant. Anything in Newt's way is going to be, to Newt, the embodiment of evil.
And only Newt can fight that evil because Newt is just that fricking special.
