They voted for Mitt! If anybody looked at his record, they'd see how much his stances have changed. But, no, he uses the word, 'conservative', 29 times during his speech, and suddenly, he's more conservative than Santorum!
So, all one has to do is proclaim that they're a 'conservative' and that makes them one.

(62,510 posts)I honestly believe they believe the right wing bullshit hook line and sinker. Howeever, I do believe they are gullible in thinking, "if I rub shoulders with the ultra wealthy, I too, one day, will be ultra wealthy".
It's their bizarre cultish/crush/idolatry of the rich that promotes a behavior of "success by proximity" mentality that estabilishes their gulibility.
"rich people say it, so it must be true!" regardless of the persons economic standing and how what is said goes completely against the grain of, again, that persons economic standing.
It then becomes easier to chant and spew talking points that push down their own personal reality and support their wanton dream of being rich than it would be to confront themselves and see just how ill prepared they are mentally, financially, or educationally. (not to mention the DNA lottery).
Like there are "authoritarian religions, republicanism is; authoritarian politics.
