(1,688 posts)Not that Karl Rove did it to support Ron Paul. cause that will be laughable if that is what you are suggesting. Its like saying the Clinton people pulled a stunt that would favor Dennis Kucinnich. Both are in different wings of their respective parties. But you could be right, you cant put anything pass those Ron Paul people, they are the king of internet grass root activism.

(10,857 posts)... everyone will have a secure, precision-made laptop that runs according to rules defined by protocols, standards, and regulations.
Or perhaps he plans to be the guy who maintains the slates and chalk.

(24,331 posts)"Coventry," by Robert A. Heinlein. The plot is about a guy who, as a result of assaulting somebody, is sentenced to "Coventry," which is an exile community where people who can't or won't respect others' rights are sent. But in reality the whole story is basically one long epic "fuck you" from Heinlein to the "rugged individualist" flavor of libertarians--in one spot near the beginning it goes on at length talking about the advanced technology that the protagonist is allowed to take with him into Coventry, and how he's arrogantly self-assured of being able to repair or rebuild it himself even though he doesn't actually understand the first thing about it.
Needless to say, the story goes relatively badly for the guy until he "sees the light" so to speak, converting from "rugged individualist" libertarianism to the "respect for society" libertarianism practiced by the rest of Heinlein's idealized society, where you're allowed to do anything you want as long as you don't impinge on the rights of others.

(10,857 posts)We had sandboxes and building blocks, but nobody built anything. Why? Because some other kid would just come along and fuck it up.
We had dodge-balls, painted court outlines, and ballfields, but nobody played any organized games. Why? Because some other kid would just come along and fuck it up.
We could eat snacks and share candy at recess, but nobody did. Why? Because if one of the bullies saw you had candy, he'd just come along and steal it.
Now, all of that could have been corrected if just one of us had thought to bring a gun into recess and murder the children who were our tormentors. Otherwise, it wasn't going to change.
Maybe that's why recess wasn't a blissful utopia.

copies of his video on youtube, but leaving his original one up. So he is making atom of money from adsense.
He will milk this for all its worth, Im kinda guessing he wont share in the profits with his daughter or think
about the harm he is causing her.

But don't try and push that on anyone who doesn't share your belief system.
This is America, by the way, these people tend to forget that with freedom of religion we also enjoy freedom FROM religion...

At the end of the day, no I'm not losing my kids, no one's in danger of being ripped from our home that I know of, and I actually got to spend some time with the nice lady and learn some cool parenting tips that I didn't know.

"a rorschack inkblot for rednecks" is close, but it needs to convey enough of a vagueness that one can say "hey, is he a real redneck? He has a gun, but he's an IT professional...."
