So as of today, I have accrued ten Valentine's hearts.

Which is, if memory serves, more than twice as many as I've ever racked up in any of the previous V-day drives in the... wow... almost eight years I've been around DU. So it appears I'm actually getting MORE popular, which is not something I'd ever have guessed. In fact, I kind of figured the opposite.

So a great big thank you to the people who send them. Besides just giving me the feeling that V-day wasn't a total waste for me, being a single person, it means something to me, and I appreciate it.

Like I said on the hearts, great cause, hilarious schoolyard mayhem guaranteed to ensue. Just like someone can't unrec you anymore, no one can "unheart" you.

I hope that doesn't rain on your parade - certainly ten people like what you have to say or a few really like what you have to say.

This all feels very meta, but I don't think the response doesn't fit the OP.

Are we supposed to feel some kind of heart-envy? Seems like a silly measure of popularity, though, since you can just buy a bunch of hearts and give them to yourself. Kind of like buying your own box of Valentine candy and pretending you got it from someone else. Which reminds me: today's the day after the holiday - have to get down to the drugstore and get those Whitman Sampler boxes at half-price.
