PPP polling preview: Romney closing in Michigan

Public Policy Polling (PPP) is currently conducting new polls regarding the GOP primary in Washington state, Michigan and Arizona.

Washington State- Santorum leads by 10 through two nights of polling. This is similar to what other polling has shown in that Santurom is the favorite in the state.

Arizona- Good news here. PPP says that Romney and Santorum are basically tied in their first night of polling. Romney is thought of as a big favorite in this primary. Plus Arizona is a winner take all state, unlike Michigan which awards delegates proportionately.

Michigan- Band news here. PPP says that Santorum still leads over Romney during their first night of polling. But the race is much tighter. It looks like Romney is closing on Santurom just like he did against Gingrich in Iowa and Florida. The public may claim to hate negative adds.... but they sure do work!

1. That's what $2 million of negative ads will buy you

As opposed to $50,000 for Santorum.

Any questions on why unilateral disarmament on Super PACs is a desperately stupid idea?

so people know him so attacks would not be as effective against him as it would with uknowns like Santorum and especially Gingrich who already had a negative reputation.

it's like in California with the Meg Whitman attacks against Jerry Brown. people already know Brown so the attacks weren't as effective. it's one reason i'm glad Gavin Newsom was not the Dem Candidate for Gov because they would have hurt him more.

but i'm glad Obama is doing anything he needs to win.

we are being saturated with anti Frothy advertising.

Most of the ads have clips of him defending all the earmarks he had put in bills and then labeling him as a "big spender".

I am not surprised they have begun to work.

4. Or, it could be that people are starting to pay attention to what Santorum is saying.

If he weren't such an idiot, he'd have started to just repeat the same line, "I am the true conservative"....and not keep sharing his ideas on sexuality, religion, and general social policy issues. People like "true conservatives"...until they start listening to what true conservatives have to say.

But Romney's money is really starting to hurt Santorum too.

Washington is a stones throw from Southern Idaho.

Lots and lots of LDS.

You would think the Repubs in Washington would be solidly behind Romney.

Negative ads do work plus the anti-contraception fiasco is hurting Santorum.
