A simple Internet search is something many of us do daily. One search by a Bellevue city councilwoman ended up saving taxpayers thousands of dollars. A deal to promote the city was no deal at all.

A simple Internet search is something many of us do daily. One search by a Bellevue city councilwoman ended up saving taxpayers thousands of dollars. A deal to promote the city was no deal at all.

Lunchtime at Stella’s Bar and Grill and the place was hopping as usual. “It's a family-owned business,” said Stella’s Pam Francois. “It's kind of an icon in Bellevue because it was the first tavern in Bellevue. It was operated by my husband, great aunt, we make the best hamburgers and cheeseburgers in the world."

For generations of Bellevue residents, this is home. Recently, a promotional company wanted to feature the city of Bellevue and some of its great businesses in a five-minute promotional story, but the city would have to pay $20,000 for the publicity.

2. I just watched that. It looks like a non story.

The story is that some company charges $20K to do a promotion of a certain town. They are offering a service. I don't see how it can be called a scam unless they don't provide the service. This is really just about the city council person patting herself on the back for not agreeing to an offer. It's something many of us do every day.
