This was reported in the Tennessean Feb. 17:
Local Tea Party co-founder arrested in prostitution sting
A founder of a Sumner County Tea Party group and a Nashville councilman were arrested Thursday and charged with patronizing prostitution.
Matthew Moynihan, a founder of Sumner United for Responsible Government (SURG), and Metro Councilman Brady Banks were caught in a prostitution sting operation after answering an online ad for escort services.
Moynihan, 38, of Hendersonville, went to a hotel at 250 Athens Way and allegedly agreed to have sex with an undercover police officer for $100 for half an hour, according to a police affidavit.

(257 posts)Apparently the same sting snagged a city councilman whose wife, a Methodist minister, recently gave birth.
Metro Councilman Brady Banks was arrested Thursday afternoon on a misdemeanor charge of patronizing prostitution at a MetroCenter hotel, police said.
Banks, 33, is accused of paying $100 to a female undercover officer in exchange for sex, police said in a news release. The first-term councilman was one of three men arrested during a sting at a hotel on Athens Way.
Banks met the undercover officer in a hotel room after responding to an escort service ad posted by the police department on the Internet, the news release said.

(15,933 posts)With a wife whos a minister, a divinity degree of his own, a beautiful baby boy and a penchant for ending phone calls with the words Be good, Metro Councilman Brady Banks had a reputation for clean living and a rock-solid character.
But that image took a hit late Thursday afternoon, when Banks was accused by police of paying a female undercover officer $100 for sex at a MetroCenter hotel. He was arrested at 4:40 p.m. on a misdemeanor charge of patronizing prostitution and released that night after posting a $1,000 bond.

And I checked his website, his wife looks way too good for him. What a dick.

(96,793 posts)Did they get busted together or did they just both happen to be there?
....not sure if you read the entire Tennessean article but it states that Banks is known as a progressive Democrat. Here is the quote from page 1 of the article:
Council elections are nonpartisan, but Banks, 33, is known as a progressive Democrat. He was mentioned recently as a potential successor to retiring state Sen. Joe Haynes.
No man should be paying for sex, clearly. Hopefully he will get the counseling he needs and can put his family life back together again. My guess is that this is not the first time this has happened.
....full disclosure. I could not get the second and third pages of the article to open in my browser....which means I did not read the full article.

(5,756 posts)I'm from Gallatin - which is the county seat of Sumner county. When I saw "Sumner County" in the article I just perked right up. These two are probably on the first or second pew every Sunday. Shining examples of good Christian men - LOL.

In many places in the world, prostitution is quite legal. It certainly isn't a-moral in many countries the US allies itself with. So why the fingerpointing at this man? He can make his own choices, can he? Does he advocate for prostitution or against it?
