WASHINGTON The top US military officer warned Sunday that intervention in Syria would be "very difficult" and said it would be "premature" to arm the besieged country's opposition movement.
"It's premature to take a decision to arm the opposition movement in Syria because I would challenge anyone to identify for me the opposition movement in Syria at this point," Dempsey said in an interview.
"There's indications that Al-Qaeda is involved and that they're interested in supporting the opposition. I mean there's a number of players, all of whom are trying to reinforce their particular side of this issue.

EXCUSE MY FRENCH - BUT WHERE THE F*CK is there anything about the US SIDING WITH AL QAEDA as claimed elsewhere. The US would not be so stupid as to send drones into Pakistan to fight Al Qaeda where they are riling up the population, and support Al Qaeda in Syria. What utter horseBS.

We have to keep the drones manufacturers rolling in billions of war profit. That's the mission of our military these days.

(18,795 posts)The neocons were in charge when Syria was a friend. There is a BBC online article today about the Canadian guy that was sent to be tortured in Syria by the Bush admin.
I think the Bush admin would be stupid enough to be inconsistent - but I think Obama is better.

(65,616 posts)IF that was not true imo, we would already be hip deep in Iran or Syria.
