Statement by Joe and Mika on Racist Pat

By JOE SCARBOROUGH | 2/17/12 3:36 PM EST
"Everyone at Morning Joe considers Pat Buchanan to be a friend and a member of the family. Even though we strongly disagree with the contents of Pat's latest book, Mika and I believe those differences should have been debated in public. An open dialogue with Morning Joe regulars like Al Sharpton and Harold Ford, Jr. could have developed into an important debate on the future of race relations in America.

Because we believe that sunlight is the best disinfectant, Mika and I strongly disagree with this outcome. We understand that the parting was amicable. Still, we will miss Pat."

No mention of his book on how good Hitler was and was not to blame for WW2...or the other shit they let stand in the last ten years.

2. Pat's paranoid rants are not a good starting point to any productive debate.

Joe and his brainless sidekick are just thinking like fellow employees who hate to see someone sacked. Understandable, but they really should have kept this to themselves, rather than airing disagreements with the company who pays them.

As I understand it, the worst of this book is the anti semitic statements - so why call out two African American Protestant men to debate those comments?

4. I'll say it again. We'll miss the racist clown when MSNBC replaces him with a Tea Party pitchman.

They will dig up a Sarah Palin or Ron Paul type to elevate and further the Teahadists.

Pat was largely ineffective.

I mean, you knew what kind of bullshit was going to come out of his mouth before he even began to speak. And his rantings were so ludicrous that they were more or less ignored by his fellow pundits.

This little episode could push him even further into racist paranoia land. Maybe he'll finally come out of the closet and reveal his loyalty to the Nazi party.

Those MSNBC tools need to be reminded that he didn't just start his spew on MSNBC. He started (on cable) on CNN 30 years ago after co-creating (from radio) and then co-hosting what would be Crossfire.

ENOUGH of him.

6. What kind of "dirt" does "good friend Pat" have on those two?

Hey, a private phone call saying "Sorry you got canned, bud," is one thing, but a public "statement?" And a public statement that really makes "Joe and Mika" look like racist apologists? Come on.

And why drag up "the two black dudes" and spout nonsense about "differences being debated in public?" WTF?

I mean, really

Here's a clue, Joey--Al Sharpton and Harold Ford are not racists who think Hitler had a point. They do happen to belong to "a" race--but it isn't the only damn one on the planet.

Why do "the black guys" ALWAYS have to be the point man (or woman) on issues of race? Why is it that if you're black, you ALWAYS have to be the "race expert" who gets thrown into the fight? It's tiresome. Why is it so hard for little Joey or Mika to pick up the banner and say, "Hey, ya know something Pat? That Hitler shit is just wrong. Your racial prejudices are offensive." Are they completely incapable of arguing against a racist POV? Or are they simply UNWILLING?

The "statement" is almost as offensive as Buchanan's gross pontifications. It reeks of cluelessness at a minimum--and it could reek of much more than that, if we stood around it sniffing for a bit.

Even Faux news Chris Wallace didn't defend Pat.

Fox News host Chris Wallace said today that recently-departed MSNBC contributor Pat Buchanan has said things "I'm not particularly fond of" and "has said some very incendiary things about Israel, about Jews, about blacks, about other minorities." Wallace also rebutted Buchanan's claim that he was "blacklisted," saying that management has a right to fire him and groups have a right to protest his comments if they're offended.

"I'm not saying that I am particularly fond of these groups either, but, you know, you don't have a right to be on MSNBC or Fox or any of these places ... [it's] the prerogative of the -- of the management and a group that is offended by your comments has the right to complain about it," Wallace said on The Mike Gallagher Show. "I don't think they blacklisted him

I know these folks worked with him over the past few years, but Matthews' end-of-show statement was just as apologist. And their sickening justifications for his decades-long chronically egregious bigoted behavior, without any hope for redemption from his hatred for anyone non-Irish Catholic male, precludes any parting comment other than a "we were coworkers and acquaintances, so long and good luck".
