General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have never once wondered about Barack Obama's views on non-procreative sex.
Not at any time. Never even crossed my mind. I really don't care what Obama thinks about the subject, if he even has an opinion, and in fact the whole idea that he WOULD have a political opinion on this practice makes me rather uncomfortable. None of my business, unless the President makes it our business--which so far, naturally, he hasn't.
But thanks to Rick Santorum's candidacy, we all know far too much about what's going on in the brain of a man who could be elected president in nine months. Despite what the polls say, I think that even mainstream Republicans have to be looking at Rick Santorum right now and thinking "Ewwww--too much information."
Call it an ick factor--or more specifically, a "Rick" factor.

We HAVE gotten to the stage of TMI!

(18,541 posts)I could spend half the day watching gay porn, and I wouldn't be thinking about gay sex nearly as much as Republics seem to. It's creepy.
The self-loathing it must inspire in them is unfathomable.

(39,961 posts)wondering about other people's views on non-procreative sex, either. It just doesn't strike me as something I want to know. In my opinion, the people who talk about sex the most are the people having it the least and therefore are obsessed with it.
It kind of makes me wonder if while growing up in the Catholic church if he was abused and that's why he has such a distaste for sex.
Someone that talks about sex that much obviously isn't what I would call "normal". Most people have other things on their mind besides sex 24/7, how you should be having it and whom you should be having it with. Sooner or later, I would hope someone would stand up to Rick Santorum and say, "Mind your own business with regards to people's sex lives and start talking about issues of substance that affect our nation, none of which include who is sleeping with whom and how frequently."
And also, I'd just like to say that when someone gets to the point where they are judging consenting adults, especially married ones, on the reasons and frequency that they have sex, I have to question whether that person is just plain jealous.
