And now, another gem of conservative wisdom from Facebook

I'll give this one a "C" for clever. I seem to recall this as an e-mail forward from many years ago....

********************************
"The $50 Lesson"

Recently, while I was working in the flower beds in the front yard, my neighbors stopped to chat as they returned home from walking their dog.

During our friendly conversation, I asked their little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up.

She said she wanted to be President some day.

Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, "If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?"

She replied... "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people."

Her parents beamed with pride!

"Wow...what a worthy goal!" I said. "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that!" I told her.

"What do you mean?" she replied.

So I told her, "You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and trim my hedge, and I'll pay you $50. Then you can go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house."

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"

I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Her parents aren't speaking to me.

Depending on how big the yard was, we're talking anywhere from 4-8 hours work. Now, if it were only 4, that comes to over $12 an hour. No chance. I'm thinking he's lucky if he gets $20 since he'd almost certainly be using the Republican's lawnmower.

to do the yardwork at $12.50 and takes the other $37.50 for herself.

Until she Groks that angle, she's still a Democrat.

she came to the conclusion that the homeless guy needed the 50 bucks so why not just go direct. Your scenario didn't make sense to her since that guy needed the money, she saw herself at the middle man & she had no interest in the money!

What does being President and feeding the homeless and providing them housing until they are on their feet have to do with a child doing manual labor and for a measley 50.00? Cheap ass prick! How christian of you to try to buy a child laborer for slave wages.

I don't blame her parents for not talking to you, you tried to poison their daughters mind with the intent to see if she would give up the money! Typical Republican doesn't see the good in allowing children to grow up without greed and hate in their little hearts!

Despicable!

The child suggested hiring the homeless guy. That in and of itself is very Democratic. Republicans would rather ship the guy off to jail or to another city.

Moreover, destitution a complicated issue and is often a result of illness, but the health of the "homeless guy" was not discussed. Why? Because the story is obviously a simplistic, no-grey-area, bullshit tactic and the only way to get a gullible Republican constituency to vote against itself.

We know he's lying when he says he has a job for him.

One day's work even for $50 is not a full time job, either.

Republicans are such assholes.

12. The $50 answer

Recently, I was mowing the front grass and a little boy told me that his conservative parents were morons.

"Why do you think that?", I asked.

"Because at our house, there isn't enough grass to mow to help out the homeless man", he replied.

"What do you mean?", I asked.

"We only mow our grass once a week and the homeless man has to eat everyday.", he replied.

"He could mow a different yard every day", I told him.

"He will still be working and poor at the same time.", the boy astutley concluded. "There are not enough yards for all the homeless to mow."

I smiled at him as his Tea Party parents looked away in shame.

I said, "Welcome to the Democratic Party."

His parents always seemed self indulgent, so I never really noticed that they stopped speaking to me.
