Both species of elephant in Africa are listed as either endangered or vulnerable, so in addition to just being disgusting human beings, these fuckers likely committed a crime.

God damn it.

...so I did a little Googling.

Warning: Very graphic photos of all kinds of dead animals:

http://www.bulletsafaris.com/2005-hunting-photos.html

Me ex-boss used to go on trips like this (although he never killed anything as big as an elephant-probably costs too much). He brought back some disturbing photos of his own...the worst was one where he was posing with his arm around a dead Orangutan.

My boss would never keep the meat from his African kills (largely because of customs issues). So, he would give it to the hunting guides' wives, who had a tent based meat processing facility near where he stayed. Apparently this is expected, as part of payment for the guide. So at least the meat isn't wasted.

As for the skins and heads...he spent an extraordinary amount of money getting mounts made. Part of the process involves the skins and heads staying in quarantine for a period of years, before being shipped back to this country. These mounts cost thousands of dollars each.

I always had to ask - why?

My boss was an avid deer hunter...and he ate the meat, and since the deer have no natural predators here, there is an overpopulation problem, and some deer would starve if they weren't hunted. But the African trips were pure 'trophy hunting'. Its like he was a 19th century English lord, out on safari.

Here's another link.....I think it might just upset some people:

At least it helps establish a price range - a 7 day stay and dead Wildebeast cost $2,400.

difficult or challenging at all about killing any of these animals. There are tons of them all around.

to kill this magnificent animal. Elephants are incredibly intelligent. They mourn. They take care of each other.

I'll quit right now because what I'm hoping for these people pretty much drags me down to their level.

on it - or more likely were shepherded into position - while it was peacefully having lunch.

Really disgusting people: as much as I will say that the vast majority of hunting is not about the 'thrill' of killing, it's clear that trophy hunting really is just about killing something big. And people who get off on that are sickening...

Why do hunters think they did something special when they kill any animal with a gun? What chance does the poor animal have? I absolutely HATE hunters. i.e. killers!

I just don't understand how anyone can feel joy or satisfaction from killing an innocent animal...no matter how small or majestic.

I wish we could post their pictures all over the internet with a sign saying, "WANTED FOR MURDER"

went through the web site and they don't offer elephants per say, but a popular dart
shooting of rhinoceros as they are protected. They might go after elephants the same way. Mostly it is lionesses and Ibex and things. They also take people on photo safaris, which would interest me.

While I don't go for hunting, maybe it is better if hunting is limited to licensed companies that follow the rules, if they do.
