How to eliminate democratic votes in elections

The repubs have figured it out - just let the poor STARVE to death. If they had their way, there would be millions that would starve without the food stamp program as it currently is.
The best way of cutting down on the food stamps is to improve the economy to the point where we don't have near as many on the program. The repubs got us in this economic mess, but have no idea nor desire to make the economy better. I've given up on saying the repubs in congress have gotten as stupid as they can get - because every day they seem to get even more stupid.
(is it factually possible for their approval rating to actually go negative? It is getting closer and closer to zero, but what then? We HAVE TO GET THEM OUT OF OFFICE, and not just the U.S. Congress, but in state governments as well.)

Then you say they're stupid.

I think you were right the first time. Although they rely upon the stupidity of the electorate (and that of many lower-echelon Teabag officeholders), the people running the show know quite well what they're doing. Homeless and starving people don't vote. Felons, imprisoned for stealing to survive, can't vote.

From the Republican point of view, the present economy is by no means a mess. Money is, to quote Andrew Mellon, "floating back to its natural owners." The people on top are doing very well, and the ones on the bottom are being squeezed into submission and helplessness. The god jobs of a generation ago are replaced with part-time, benefit-free gigs at MallWart.

The people they really need to fear are the educated urbanites, especially the ones with money.

isn't it true that "Red States" have more constituents on SNAP than "Blue"?

So, in reality the GOP is going after/causing harm to their Own base first and blaming it on Dems/PBO......

It's a well know fact that Red States are the so called "takers" - getting back More from US Govt than they contribute and the "Blue States" give more than they get back...thus carrying the majority of the GOP base in Red States...

They might already be in negative territory---just depends on how well the q's are worded and whom they poll, I guess.

whose poverty reduces their likelihood of voting, then that suppression makes the state redder.

there are also many fewer blue voters in those states to lose--I'm not sure that it makes any difference in the outcome w/or w/out SNAP.

Bottom line is that they don't really want anyone to vote if they are poor/disabled/minority/female/LGBT etc
It's easier to hit the most economically vulnerable and under-informed amongst us first...

or any other poverty program. It lets them grandstand for their carefully indoctrinated idiots who are just above the poverty line and who have been programmed to hate those below it.
