winner take all!
He's getting increasingly over the top and headed to the point of oblivion shortly. Who will be the lucky DU'er to win it all!

(111,124 posts)and vote for Obama and lie about it later because of Santorum's obvious hatred of anything female and his insistence that Vatican dogma become civil law.
They're thick as planks, of course, so it might take a while. But once it sinks in, they will destroy him any way they can.

(4,755 posts)I do not believe Ricky wants to be the nominee of his party or president. The higher his approval numbers have gone up the crazier he has gotten on the campaign trail. Any man serious about winning his party's nomination does not make batshit crazy statements and then double down on them the next day. Rick Santorum is dumb with a little bit of added crazy. The chances of him winning the nomination, IMHO, are zero.

(50,528 posts)I think there's a 50-percent chance he'll win the nomination--the Republicans are running four people no one likes very much, and Santorum is the last not-Romney left standing. If the teabaggers get their way, which is possible, the not-Romney will go on to the general.
The problem with Santorum, at least as far as the GOP is concerned, is he will fuck every downticket candidate they've got. Republicans are NOT going to go to the polls and cast protest votes for President Obama, they will stay home. Democrats, OTOH, will go to the polls in droves to vote for Obama in order to keep Santorum out of the White House.
If Santorum is the nominee, expect the "tax cuts and deregulation" wing of the GOP to launch a third-party bid...probably the Constitution Party, if I were to lay bets on it. They'll choose someone like Lamar Alexander or Dick Lugar--you know, one of the grand old men of the GOP--to run as this party's nominee. Either one could siphon off enough Republican votes to hand Obama every state.
This may sound ludicrous, but consider: the most important task facing the GOP right now is getting rid of the Tea Party. Running a third-party candidate against Santorum would do it.
