Fox News and Trump complain: Blacks say ‘cracker’ but we can’t use the N-word

Conservative mogul Donald Trump and the hosts of Fox & Friends on Monday complained that African-American Democrats were allowed to say the word “cracker,” but celebrity cook Paula Deen was “crucified” for using the N-word.

During a weekly segment with Trump, Fox News host Gretchen Carlson reported that Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) had gone on a “racist rant” last week when he said that the tea party was the “same white crackers” who fought against the civil rights movement.

“If Charlie or whoever it was was a Republican and they made that statement, they’d be resigning from office right now,” Trump opined.

“Look at the stunning double standard,” co-host Steve Doocy observed. “You know, he is on the left, and then a couple of months ago you had the instance with Paul Deen where she said one word thirty years ago, and she was crucified, lost her business deals. They took her to task, but Charlie Rangel gets a pass.”

Yeah, and nothing will happen to Charlie,” Trump agreed. “I see it all the time. If you’re a Republican and you make a statement like that, it’s over. I mean, you are finished. If you’re a conservative — by the way, the further right you are, the worse it gets. So, it’s a very rough — it’s a double standard. It’s a very rough double standard.”

I think some white people have outrage envy. They WANT to be offended so they can have an excuse to lash out at black people.

But no black person every said, "I'll buy that cracker, work him to death, breed him like livestock, and rape his daughter to breed more crackers, and if he complains too much I'll kill him." And it would all have been legal.

And no black person ever said in the Jim Crow era, "Let's lynch that cracker," and the local police not only didn't stop him, but provided the rope.

And today, no black person could say, "That cracker walking down the street looks suspicious," shoot him dead and NOT go to prison or death row.

7. I'm not the least bit offended by the word "cracker".

It doesn't covey the same hateful connotations by any stretch. But I do wish we could eradicate the n-word from our collective vocabulary-I hate hearing come from anyone's lips, no matter what color they happen to be. I understand the AA community feeling its okay to say it to each other, but it only results in keeping that horrid word alive. Just my opinion.

Not all African-Americans support the use of the n-word by members of the community. There are many African-American people who have, for years, pushed for African-Americans to also stop using the word to address each other.
