It's becoming increasingly clear that Ron Paul is becoming the tool of Mitt Romney and the Establishment. He covers Romney in the debates. He only attacks Romney's biggest opponent (first Gingrich, then Santorum). He runs TV ads against Romeny's biggest opponent. He covers for Romney in the media when he screws up.
So what's up? Your anti-establishment, "constitutionalist", anti-government, libertarian is the tool of the establishment. Do you feel used? You should.

(51,122 posts)Like most Libertarians, he's only stands for himself.
In this case, he's been clearly 'paid off' by Romney.
This is why Libertarianism is FAIL!
Losers.

(3 posts)are the ones that began this myth painfully trying to discourage Pro-Ron Paul individuals from running as delegates, but unfortunately for Mitt it's not working. They know Ron Paul is trailing very closely behind Romney as far as delegates go. Ron Paul is simply choosing his battles wisely. The other candidates do a pretty good job of beating each other up, while Paul quietly picks up delegates and none of them dare attack Ron Paul on anything unless it involves his anti-war foreign policy.
The campaign strategy is to gain the necessary amount of delegates to secure the nomination not to win the beauty contests. If neither candidate can reach the necessary amount of delegates to secure the nomination then the delegates that are bound to either Gingrich, Romney, or Santorum are released and free to vote for whom they choose. There are many delegates who are obligated to vote for one of those three that in a brokered convention would vote for Ron Paul. Not a bad strategy and short of massive voting fraud (which has been like in the '08 election going on at the local level) should work well for him.

(27,706 posts)No one with any sense of political reality believes the crazy shit he's selling - with Ron Paul the bullshit is a mile wide and two feet deep. Ron Paul is going nowhere. He's fucked. There will be no brokered convention, the Republican Party at large won't vote for Ron Paul under any circumstances. Let's face it, even Pig Newton doesn't have a chance. It's going to be Mittens or Ol'Frothy. It's going to be a grand old party, but the Paulistas aren't going to be invited.
