No, Glenn, it's almost certainly not about the NSA and you. It's about oil, drone strikes and blowback.
This isn't the stuff of conspiracy.
International companies will invest in Yemeni oil
SANAA, May 25 In a speech delivered at the first Yemeni-Turkish forum held in Sanaa this past Saturday, oil and minerals minister, Ahmed Dares, confirmed that 35 international companies are currently competing to invest in 20 oil sites throughout Yemen.
The ministry intends to carry out surveys on oil sites in order to provide investors with necessary information and attract more companies to invest in Yemen.
The decision to go through with the investment project in Yemen has not yet been finalized. Dares said that this announcement will come in mid-July.
Sadik Yildiz, chairman of Turkish-Yemeni Business Council, told the Yemen Times that in spite of the obstacles occurring in Yemensuch as political and security issuesthey are willing to work in cooperation with the Yemeni official authorities to overcome them.
We have been drone killing the shit out of Yemen for years now and it's increased sharply over the last year or so.
There was a drone strike near Sana today, bringing to 4 the number of drone strikes the U.S. has conducted over the past 10 days.
WASHINGTON A suspected U.S. drone strike in Yemen the fourth reported in the last 10 days killed four alleged Al Qaeda members Tuesday, as the U.S. and British governments evacuated their embassies because of intelligence suggesting a possible terrorist attack.
A drone-launched missile struck a vehicle in Marib province, east of the Yemeni capital, Sana, killing the four militants, according to the Yemen Post, a privately-owned English language newspaper. A second strike targeted a "militant hideout," the paper said, citing local security officials.
But the attacks did not hit any of the 25 suspected terrorists named on a list released Monday by the Yemeni government, according to a Yemeni official who was not authorized to be quoted.

(114,904 posts)The travel warning the State Department issued Tuesday calling on all Americans in the Gulf state of Yemen, including non-essential US government personnel, to leave the country immediately, reflects intercepted Al Qaeda communications urging terrorist actions against Western interests in the country.
But the evacuation of the Americans, including diplomats, may also suggest that the US is planning to intensify the sustained drone war it has been carrying out against Al Qaeda militants in Yemen.
It also reaffirms the view of White House and State Department officials that the Yemen-based Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) is now the terrorist organizations most active and dangerous arm.
The travel warning was issued in Washington as the US carried out a drone strike targeting a vehicle traveling north of the capital of Sanaa and reportedly carrying four Al Qaeda militants, all of whom were killed. Tuesdays strike was at least the fourth in the last two weeks part of an intensification of the US drone war in Yemen over the past 18 months.

Try hard enough for blowback and you will succeed - not that the pop. of the US have any real grasp of blow back other than it being unfair.............what did we ever do to deserve this ?
