That is somewhat troubling, yet don't forget that this may be intended as purely educational for the benighted among us. Many people are so ignorant of what poverty really is that they think only minorities ask for or receive welfare. How else can the truly misinformed be shown what the truth is in our country?

9. I live in a state with one of the highest amount of SNAP recipients in the country.

The amount of vitriol spewed about someone getting a few dollars to feed their kids is enough to raise your blood pressure.

The fact that some of the people spewing it used to be on the program themselves is even more enraging.

They've somehow rationalized in their small minds that they deserved it when they needed them, but other people are 'lazy'.
