They have compared him to Hitler, to Satan, now a baby killer. This is our PRESIDENT. They have continuously shown this President, a man we have chosen to be our leader by majority vote, disrespect...they don't just attack our President (which is bad enough) They attack us all. This is an insult for each and every one of us who voted for Obama.
Goddammit America, stand up and say ENOUGH!

It is time to make known your dissent from the Catholic Church, in light of the U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops ruthless campaign endangering the right to contraception. If you're part of the Catholic Church, you're part of the problem.
Why are you propping up the pillars of a tyrannical and autocratic, woman-hating, sex-perverting, antediluvian Old Boys Club? Why are you aiding and abetting a church that has repeatedly and publicly announced a crusade to ban contraception, abortion and sterilization, and to deny the right of all women everywhere, Catholic or not, to decide whether and when to become mothers? When it comes to reproductive freedom, the Roman Catholic Church is Public Enemy Number One. Think of the acute misery, poverty, needless suffering, unwanted pregnancies, social evils and deaths that can be laid directly at the door of the Church's antiquated doctrine that birth control is a sin and must be outlawed.
No self-respecting feminist, civil libertarian or progressive should cling to the Catholic faith. As a Cafeteria Catholic, you chuck out the stale doctrine and moldy decrees of your religion, but keep patronizing the establishment that menaces public health by serving rotten offerings. Your continuing Catholic membership, as a "liberal," casts a veneer of respectability upon an irrational sect determined to blow out the Enlightenment and threaten liberty for women worldwide. You are an enabler. And its got to stop.
I don't know about you, but an open letter like that makes me want to run out and vote for Democrats en masse! And not just vote for them; I also want canvass for them, phone bank for them, donate to them, and fight for them!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church_in_the_United_States#Demographics
There are 68,503,456 registered Catholics in the United States (22% of the US population) according to the American Bishops' count in their Official Catholic Directory 2010.

(27,310 posts)if a post on a political discussion board that has a couple of thousand active members might dissuade you from voting for Obama.
Catholic bishops and priests have a far greater influence of anti-Obama influence than any criticism of the religious and religious misogyny.

(22,143 posts)America is not going to say "enough" any more than they did for Bush. The country is completely polarized. They HATE Obama and they hate us. We merely think they're stupid. Don't expect respect from these people ever.

(62,397 posts)If Obama wins (which I'm sure he will), hopefully it will send a message to all the right wing half wits that the attacks of teh stupid don't work.
but alas, some right wing "genius" will ignore that and come the spring, summer and fall of 2016, we will be subject to more stupidity.

(34,179 posts)Presidents are usually excoriated by the members of the opposing party, or simply by people who seriously dislike them and their policies.
Go back through recent history, this is nothing new. Bush II, Clinton, Bush I, Reagan, on and on, all had similar things said about them.
It comes with the office, if you can't handle it, best not to run.
