Eva Longoria To Co-Chair Obama Reelection Campaign

The “Desperate Housewives” star has been selected to serve as co-chair of President Obama’s re-election campaign. The actress, along with Kal Penn and 35 other national figures, has been chosen to act as ambassador for the president in an ambitious grassroots effort. Longoria is a longtime Obama supporter and Penn briefly worked for the Obama administration.

and this can only help. She's a smart lady, too, so this is really good news! She gets a LOT of exposure in the Latino media because she's popular.

Savvy move by the Obama Campaign.

One of the striking things about the co-chair list is the number of Latinos — seven (or one out of every five appointees.) The Latino vote went to Obama in 2008, but hard economic times have battered many communities of recent immigrants — like Los Angeles — and some activists have been disappointed by the president’s tepid engagement with the issue of comprehensive immigration reform. Wednesday’s appointments indicate that the Obama reelection campaign is determined to shore up its Latino base with appointments ranging from San Antonio’s popular mayor Julian Castro to Los Angeles chief executive Antonio Villaraigosa and local labor leader Maria Elena Durazo of the AFL-CIO.

Apart from Latinos, the biggest single bloc among Obama’s new co-chairs consists of Californians, who occupy six of the slots. They include not only Durazo and Villaraigosa, but also two of the state party’s rising stars, San Gabriel Valley congresswoman Judy Chu and state Atty. Gen. Kamala Harris, another of Hollywood’s political darlings.

According to the Obama reelection campaign, the new co-chairs will act as the president’s electoral ambassadors with a special emphasize on getting out the vote in all 50 states.

They're focusing on the voter database this election and identifying the 'locked' voter versus the indies/'on the fence' voters...resources are going to the later, not the former.

And you have to wonder just how well Republicans are going to do in mobilizing their base. Anti-socialists are not particularly good at socialist things like 'organizing'. Turnout hasn't been impressive for the primaries..even you can't turn out the most fired up part of your voter base, good luck with the apolitical types in the GE.

I like the fact my Congressman here In Missouri Emmanuel CLever Is a co-chair.Some might critize Eva Longoria but this Is all part
of reaching the hispinic vote.I also noticed a retired Admiral on the list. And I also like Caroline Kennedy on the list.

Ted Stricklin Is on list too.Perhapes working for Obama as a prelude to try to take back the Governor's mansion In 2014.

Lincoln Chafee Is on List too. That Is surprising.I thought come fall he might endorse Obama again but to activly work for Obama's
reelection Is something.

Despite critizing Obama taking pacmoney Russ Feingold will be working for Obama.Unlike Romney Obama can geet support from core leaders of the Democratic Base.

A very Intresting list of co-chairs to represent Obama In this race.
