Santorum: Liberals ‘make it uncomfortable’ to shower at the YMCA

Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum recently told a group of students that they needed to fight for conservative values in “every aspect of your life” because liberals who support abortion rights even “make it uncomfortable” to shower at the YMCA if you disagree with their views.

In a video clip posted by Right Wing Watch on Tuesday, Rick Santorum told the group Students for Life that the truth would only win “if you have the passion, winsomeness and charity to bring to this debate, to bring it to your communities, to bring it to every aspect of your life.”

“You see, what the left does, what the pro-choice movement does is they just don’t focus on their little issue, they focus on everything they do and every aspect of their life,” he explained. “They make it uncomfortable for students who come to Austin to shower at a young men’s Christian association YMCA gym.”

“Because they live it. They’re passionate. They’re willing to do and say uncomfortable things in mixed company. They’re willing to make the sacrifice at their business because they care enough… They simply won’t give up. We have the truth and we give up! We have righteousness and we give up because it’s unpopular!”

times I've heard (and danced to!) that song, I've never actually seen the video to it. I was fourteen when it came out and it was such a fun, silly hit and has remained so. I have no idea why it is, it just is. What's really funny is when they play it at a wedding reception or other party and everyone does the group dance to it, with the hand movements during the "Y M C A" part, particularly when they're drunk. Especially when they're drunk! Years ago, I worked for a division of TransUnion with managers who were about as stuffy as you could get. But at the annual Christmas party when they were all drunk as shit it was hilarious to watch them do this dance.

The YMCA was kind enough to allow the group to shower at their facility while they were in town lobbying the legislature. The pro-lifers were kicked out for bringing their politics to the gym, which is against YMCA policy.
What is Santorum talking about?
And what about showering with liberals makes him uncomfortable?
Is he uncomfortable because he thinks liberals are gay (though he was not addressing any gay issue)?
Does he think liberals are all baby-killers, who would deem some humans less valuable than others? Does he think liberals were the strong supporters of American slavery? And why would these beliefs make him uncomfortable in the shower?
Does Santorum think YMCA policy equals liberal intimidation of conservatives (enough so that they couldn't shower together)?
Does he think that a policy designed to keep politics out of a facility is a liberal policy?
Does Santorum think that pushing one's politics on others, in inappropriate places, equals not being aggressive enough? And what do any of these things have to do with using a YMCA shower comfortably?
What happens to Santorum when he's uncomfortable in the shower? Does he shrivel or does he grow?
He is one confused person and nothing he said at that rally did anything to make things less confusing.
That's some awe-inspiring, presidential material there, I'd say.
