It already passed the House of Delegates this past Friday, now it's on the floor of the Senate today where any Senator can propose amendments. They may vote on it later today or tomorrow.

1. It's likely this will go to the ballot

and if that happens, it's also very likely it won't pass this November but it's a step in the right direction.

2. This is going to be a HUGE election in Maryland this year based on the referendum questions

Obama will win Maryland easily, but the DREAM Act is currently on the ballot and Gay Marriage will most likely ALSO be on the ballot. So while the presidential race won't be important in Maryland, we need to target our GOTV towards the ballot questions.

4. Folks think that gay marriage in Maryland will not pass as a referendum

and I'm not even gonna talk about why they're speculating about it. Don't want to get flamed or start a flame war.

3. The bill just passed 2nd Reader, on it's way for a final vote, probably tomorrow

It survived a barage of unfriendly amendments.


The Senate, however, has different rules than the House, so Senators CAN still propose amendments when it comes up for final vote.
