INSIDER Proof: Tea & Libertarian Parties ARE The John Birch Society

I've posted here on DU about Claire Conner's book "Wrapped in the Flag" and I highly recommend it. You can see my prior post about her book and this subject here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/1017133382

"War on Error" on DailyKOS has also discovered this author and her book, saying:

We now have INSIDER proof that today's Tea & Libertarian Parties are just a repackaging of the John Birch Society. Here's a must read book written by Claire Connor (one brave woman I might add) that connects the dots from 1934 to the present of right wing extremism:

Wrapped in the Flag: A Personal History of America's Radical Right

I learned of this book from a tweet connecting to this The Nation article:

Growing Up in the John Birch Society

Quite frankly, the article isn't that well-written, however, it did inspire me to look into the book.

This is where it gets REALLY interesting.

The book is listed with Amazon.com and, based on the comments, is a must read for anyone wanting to better understand both the Tea Party and todays so-called Libertarian movement.

However, when I went to the Amazon link, the customer reviews are what really grabbed my attention. (click on the "5 Star link on the left to view the entire text of each review)

Apparently, the author, Claire Connor, is the first to write an insider account of being raised by John Birch Society devotees. Her father was a national JBS operative.

Miserable, hateful woman. My aunt hated her and she hated my aunt. She was the mother-in-law from Hell.

I grew up with rabid John Birchers in my Catholic church and school.
The pastor of our second parish was a really weird anti-Communist
John Bircher. Every week he put out a parish bulletin with a whole
page devoted to "J Edgar Hoover says."

false flag, bankster-Jekyll Island-IRS, Obamanation, both parties are all the same, they are trying to kill you with abortion, the post office is spying on you, schools are indoctrinating the kids to be gay and communist, all comes from the same source.

I remember them wanting the Kennedys dead, rejoicing when JFK was killed, as they were more open back then. And what we've seen for the last twenty years is the same drekt, just wrapped up for a new generation. Too many people think they've found something new that is The Truth. NOT.

7. I was shown an article about the history of the KKK in Minnesota in the 1920's.

It appeared in the magazine put out by the Minnesota Historical Society in the last quarter of 2009 - you know, just after all the horrible healthcare town halls where all the goons showed up threatening legislators and sometimes packing heat. I expect it was written the spring before - knowing how long it takes to pull a magazine together and get it published.

The reason my friend showed it to me was that the article laid out so well the teaparty platform, the teahadist lingo, and their political strategies - all borrowed from the KKK. At least from the KKK of the Midwest. Your KKK mileage may vary.

The article isn't available online, but you can buy a copy of the magazine for $5 if you want to check it out. I'm sure the money will go to a great cause.

The point is, it's stunning how this bullshit repeatedly finds shuns one disguise for another to masquerade about in innocence, capitalizing on the ignorance of the nation.
