The only reason Chained CPI isn't implemented is because the GOP will not accept a "grand bargain".

The only reason.

Having said that if he is the best we can do and will not fully support Social Security as it is, then I do not know what we can do.

The chained CPI is bullshit. And Social Security has nothing to do with the deficit. And there would be NO deficit if corporations and the rich paid their fair share of taxes.

The fact is that the GOP believes that the rich and corporations and businesses should pay NO TAXES. Taxes should only fall on workers.

"At this festive season of the year, Mr Scrooge, ... it is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the Poor and destitute, who suffer greatly at the present time. Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir."

"Are there no prisons?"

"Plenty of prisons..."

"And the Union workhouses." demanded Scrooge. "Are they still in operation?"

"Both very busy, sir..."

"Those who are badly off must go there."

"Many can't go there; and many would rather die."

"If they would rather die," said Scrooge, "they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."
