Are online ads becoming toxic to my computer?

The latest type of ads seem to cause faults in my browser. Requiring constant refresh, and BACK. They seem to ruin the screen, if I move the mouse, while their shit is loading.

Is my computer operating system hosed, or are the new ads pushing the limit?

I had a little problem logging on to my bank at first because it did non allow the cookies to update. A simple check mark removal fixed that.
The list of stopped crap can get quite long on some sites.
