Jackie Gingrich Dead: Ex-Wife Of Newt Gingrich Dies At 77

Jackie Gingrich Dead: Ex-Wife Of Newt Gingrich Dies At 77

CARROLLTON, Ga. -- The ex-wife of former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich has died in Atlanta at age 77.

Representatives from Almon Funeral Home in Carrollton, Ga., confirm the death of Jacqueline Gingrich. Her divorce from the Republican politician was final in 1981 and six months later, he married his second wife, Marianne. Their marriage ended in divorce in 2000.

An obituary on the funeral home's website says Jacqueline Gingrich was the oldest of four children, earned a mathematics degree from Auburn College and taught math at high schools in south Georgia. It says she died Wednesday, but the cause is unclear.

Questions about the divorces and infidelity have followed the former House speaker, including in 2011 when he was seeking the Republican nomination for president.

You don't love someone, you at least stay together during this time.

What a horrible person he is.

4. He's got that Limbaugh problem. Can't keep a wife.

He might think he's trading 'em in, but when he keeps doing that kind of thing, it becomes obvious that HE is the problem.

He is a loser, and now he's stuck with plastic-haired Calista. Once upon a time she was a fresh-faced staffer, schtupping the boss...now she looks like a freak, which makes her a good match for him.

11. Turns out, he was talking about himself and his chances for the Presidency!

Oh, and he is too "pervy," too.

I get the sense that Helmet Head Calista is getting a bit tired of his pervy ways--that concrete hairstyle, that plastered on grimace, that glassy, thousand yard stare....she looks like she wasn't "careful what she wished for," and ended up getting what she deserved.

She sure doesn't look like the same fresh faced Congressional Staffer with WAY too much authority relative to her experience who was upsetting the natural order of things amongst the Speakers employees way back in the wild and crazy nineties.

did some things on the back roads of Macon Country that he doesn't want anybody to find out about.

And it's interesting that Newt is standing as far away from Jackie as possible in that shot, and doesn't even seem to want to acknowledge her presence in the room.

What a prince of a guy.

9. Gingrich Used Wife He Had Cheated On To Write Letter Saying He Was A Family Man.

As Salon explains: "Jackie Gingrich raised the daughters, worked to put Newt through graduate school and was a loyal political wife during his two unsuccessful campaigns for Congress in 1974 and 1976. In his make-or-break 1978 race, Gingrich enlisted Jackie to attack his female opponent, who had announced that if elected she would commute to Washington and allow her family to remain in Georgia. At Gingrich's instigation, Jackie wrote a campaign letter declaring that Newt was a fine husband and would take his family with him, although his top aides already knew Gingrich was having affairs and the marriage was falling apart." I can just picture the Newter deciding that this will be all about him.
