(12,072 posts)If you are not, then it isn't any of your business, so you really don't have any words. I seriously doubt that even a penny of your money is going to any preacher, but if others want to contribute, then that is their freedom.

Want to go to the Potters House with me in Dallas to put some flyers under wipers? LOL

(12,072 posts)None. You don't have any authority over their freedom. You won't have any effect at all on them. You are doomed to being frustrated.
I am sticking up for freedom, including the freedom to do things that you don't like. You are one of those authoritrians that wants to make everybody behave the way you do. I am not a member of that congregation either, I simply realize that it isn't my business and that I should mind my own business, not everybodies else's.

(22,271 posts)It's our business because he drives down the roads that WE pay for in our taxes. If his house catches on fire the nice firefighters will come and put the fire out with OUR tax money. If there's a crime perpetrated and he has to call the police, that's OUR tax money that's being used so, yes, it IS our business. Now, if he wants to remove himself from that whole tax exempt status thing (what the hell ever happened to "give unto Caesar" THEN it won't be any of our business.

(12,072 posts)The only thing that is tax exempt is the stuff that is the direct property of the church.
How much the church pays him is none of your business. IRS business, but not yours.
You seem to have bought into the myth that religious figures are completely tax exempt. They aren't.

(37,573 posts)1) these guys pay taxes too
2) nobody is forcing anybody to give to their churches - so in a sense they are like Jay-Z. They do their little rap song and dance every week and people put money in their plate. If the people who give money to support them did not feel they were getting a benefit, they would lose support. People would stop going to their church, people would stop giving money. They simply have a lot of people giving them a lot of money. Chances are, they are better than average preachers at least as far as being interesting and entertaining goes.
Still, that being said

(857 posts)Also these preachers are obviously accruing "excess benefits." They should all be investigated by the IRS and have the proper fines applied to them, such as an immediate 25% excise tax on the worth of the excess benefit. That will fix their fannies.
