The "Scandal" Scandal...

The propagation of "scandal" theories by the right-wing Tea Party types is the biggest "scandal" of all. They say they are the victims of the IRS. In fact, it is nothing more than their long-time obsession of doing away with the IRS and putting in place a "flat tax" that would further drive our nation into a third world status. They are fooling no one except the most naive.

And they refuse to give up the Benghazi "scandal". They know these Americans were not killed in the embassy. They were killed in a CIA outpost. It was a dangerous mission and they got caught in the crossfire. It was tragic but not totally unpredictable. It is not a trivial matter but it is not something that was totally alien to the previous Administration. It was a tragic event but it does not qualify as a "scandal".

A few Republicans are calling the NSA "spying" a scandal and it may come closest to fitting the label. But Republicans, by and large, agree with the spying on Americans and with the mission of the CIA and the NSA. They are authoritarians at heart.

This is what they hope to accomplish with their questions at the President's news conference today. They want to convince their followers, the fair and balanced crowd, that there are scandals all around us and the M$M is covering it all up. This is the true "scandal" that is not being reported.
