marriage because I get my news at DU. I'm so glad a friend mentioned it in passing while talking about Oprah's purse saga.

(9,314 posts)I could only think "WOW" when I saw the dress. For some reason, I wanted to cry at the good news but could not figure out why. She has been with her current partner for 27 years; perhaps it took her that long to work up the nerve to marry again after what happened to her in her earlier marriage.
If there is one person who really deserves a happy marriage, I think it might be Tina Turner. And once again, WOW, look at that dress.

PS some photographer had the nerve to get his or her hands on a drone and attach a camera to it to acquire some pictures. Fortunately, the plan was derailed.

(9,314 posts)with an exceptional voice and ability to entertain. They may love her in Switzerland, but I do not doubt there is an overwhelming amount of love for her here as well. May she find exceptional happiness in her marriage and the rest of the days of her life. I think I am starting to sound like a soap opera, so I will sign off now....
But again, that dress, that dress.

(80 posts)It's none other than Trudi Götz, the lady that owns the racist handbag shop that gave Oprah so much grief!
Trudi Gotz (Blick/Paolo Foschini)
Doesn't that seem odd.

(1,895 posts)On January 25, 2013, it was announced that Turner had applied for Swiss citizenship and would renounce her US citizenship.[132][133] In April, she undertook a mandatory citizenship test which included advanced knowledge of the German language and of Swiss history; she passed without problems. On April 22, 2013, she was issued a Swiss passport and is now a citizen of Switzerland.[134]

(1,135 posts)no slouch, either! I love a man with a square jaw.... except for ones who talk to empty chairs. Used to, but no more. That guy I despise...............
I've always admired the heck out of Tina Turner since the '70s', as a strong woman, first and amazing talent, second.

(1,135 posts)I would if I could live elsewhere in the world.
I get real heart burn over the phrase, "God Bless America".
Why?????
Why should He?
What have we done that it so more special than another country???
How arrogant in having that elitist, entitled attitude!!
It's just vile hypocrisy, this egotistically, false patriotism.
Especially, when blacks have felt more equal and more comfortable in Europe than their own home country, since the 50s', when many AA musicians and artists immigrated to Paris. That's really sad..........
