About the celebrity Florida boycott.

I completely understand the reaction to the injustice of the Zimmerman verdict. But there are miscarriages of justice in every state (O J anyone?). But why is that event worthy of a boycott of the State (who did after all prosecute Zimmerman) while States like Texas and North Carolina, that are basing horrible anti-woman laws and bringing back the Jim Crow era by disenfranchising thousands of voters don't stir the same outrage. Don't you think denying Texas and NC business and tourism will do much more good there than Stevie Wonder not performing in Florida.

about the lack of response to these new laws than talking about Florida. It was meant as a preamble.

From what I can gather its exaclty in the rear view mirror.

ACLU dropped their case with the fed
The DOJ did as well when the president pretty much let them off the hook.

The news media feels like they have gotten all they have to get.

Mrs Fulton did some rounds but their were symbolic at best.

A couple Florida reps said they wished they hadn't voted for SYG, but no mention of repeal.

My take anyway

No Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin, the Dakotas, Texas, the Carolinas, Mississippi, Arizona, etc. etc. etc. for me. Boycott all of them.

In any tourist destination, the restaurants and beaches are crowded. I lived in Miami, FL, for most of my life and it turned into hell. I now live in the Atlanta, GA, area and would never go back to that hell hole Miami.

while Floriduh depends upon the kindness of strangers, so to speak.

I love my home state (in spite of the idiots who live there), but can't blame anyone for boycotting. That was overhyped though, wasn't it? Is it really a big deal at this point?

in tourism dollars (over $50 billion) so it is a big deal. I also think a business boycott is called for.
In NC it's close to $20 billion and they are becoming a major banking center.
Those $ support this racist, misogynist State government.

How was a shit job by prosecutors a miscarriage of justice compared to 6 idiot jurors voting to acquit an ADMITTED killer based on his fear of an unarmed black kid? OJ is in jail now and will be for a few more years which should make people who still hold that fucking grudge happy enough.

Why single out Stevie Wonder? You come across just a wee bit angry at black men to me.

reaction to States like Texas and NC. OJ was just the most obvious trial with a screwed up verdict I thought of in a State that is progressive. I wasn't making any more of a comparison.
And Stevie Wonder was the first celebrity I thought of in terms of the FL boycott, and I have no problem with his decision.
I think I am really wondering out loud if we should address the horrible, draconian laws being passed in these States.
