If Obama wants to turn a lot of Democratic Party activists off to working for the Party in 2014, he can appoint Summers, sign bills cutting food stamps and/or Social Security and continue to defend his surveillance system.

Any one of those actions is really going to depress the Party activists. Does he seriously think that his wealthy donors get out and register voters and do all the things that bring out the voters at the last minute.

TV ads, etc. can only do so much.
